Earlier today, the Miami Dolphins commenced work on the modernization of Sun Life Stadium. The multi-year construction project officially began this morning following a successful vote before the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners last Tuesday. The project, which will encompass a host of improvements, including all new seats, a shade canopy, new video boards, and concourse and concession improvements, is expected to be complete by the start of the 2016 football season. Upon completion, Sun Life Stadium will be a best-in-class facility capable of attracting world-class events to South Florida for the next 25 years.
JAY Z and Beyoncé’s “On The Run Tour” opens tonight in Miami at Sun Life Stadium. The tour has currently sold more than 750,000 tickets making it the most successful tour of the year and on track to becoming the second-most successful tour of all time. The “On The Run Tour” features American R&B artist Beyoncé alongside husband, rapper JAY Z. The duo have a total of 17 Grammy Awards each throughout their careers as well as numerous other nominations. Beyoncé is the second-most awarded female music artist of all time and JAY Z, having sold more than 75 million records, has been claimed to be one of the greatest rappers of all time.
Relevent Sports, a division of RSE Ventures Inc., is pleased to announce it has signed an agreement with TLA Worldwide plc, a leading athlete representation and sports marketing group, to bring the elite International Champions Cup (ICC) to Asia Pacific from 2015-2018. The expansion of the ICC for 2015 comes with the ICC Finals to take place this summer at Sun Life Stadium on Aug. 4. TLA has partnered with Nine Live, wholly owned by Nine Entertainment Co, a leading Australian media and entertainment company, to organize, promote and deliver the ICC to the region from 2015-2018.
The Miami-Dade County Commission on Tuesday approved Mayor Carlos Gimenez’s plan for bonus payments to the Miami Dolphins for hosting marquee events in exchange for Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross being financially responsible for the $350 million renovation of the stadium without county assistance. “I want to thank the Board of County Commissioners and Mayor Gimenez for approving this unique and creative plan to bring Super Bowls and other marquee events to Miami-Dade County,”?Ross said in a statement. “We have one of the world’s most aspirational cities and, as such, deserve a stadium that will provide significant economic impact to Miami-Dade County.
Soccer Power House Brazil Returns to Sun Life Stadium for Friendly Against Colombia on September 5, 2014
Sun Life Stadium and Relevent Sports announced the Brazilian national soccer team will face Colombia on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 8:30 p.m. ET at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The match marks the return of Brazil’s national soccer team to the South Florida area after setting a new soccer attendance record at Sun Life Stadium of 71,124 in a match against Honduras in 2013. The game comes on the heels of the second World Cup hosted by Brazil and following the 2014 Guinness International Champions Cup finals in Miami on August 4, 2014.
