The Guinness International Champions Cup officially kicked off last Thursday, July 24 in Toronto with a match featuring Olympiacos and AC Milan. Olympiacos defeated AC Milan, 3-0, with Alejandro Dominguez responsible for the initial goal in the 16th minute. A little under 30 minutes later, Dimitrios Diamantakos doubled Milan’s score and in the 78th minute, midfilder Andreas Bouchalakis secured the third and final goal resulting in the victory. Manchester United faced AS Roma in Denver two days later. Real Madrid also faced Inter Milan in Berkeley, Calif.

This English football club has won the most League titles of any other English club in history. The club has secured 11 FA Cups, four League Cups, a record twenty FA Community Shields, three European Cups, one UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, one UEFA Super Cup, one Intercontinental Cup, and one FIFA Club World Cup. A number of the “Red Stars” showed face in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
With one day left until kickoff, today’s team preview highlights one of the most popular clubs in the world, Real Madrid. Real Madrid, also known as Real, is one of the most recognized professional soccer clubs in the world. The team has easily become one of the most successful with 32 Spanish League titles, 18 Copa del Rey titles and 10 Eurpoean Championship trophies. FIFA named Real Madrid the top team of the 20th century and will be looking to secure its International Champions Cup championship for a second year in a row.
Liverpool F.C. is one of the most successful clubs in England and has won more European titles than any other team. The club is a part of the Premier League and has secured five European Cups, three UEFA Cups and three UEFA Super Cups including 18 League titles, seven FA Cups and a eight League Cups. The club has two strong and historic rivals, Everton and Manchester United. Liverpool’s roster is made up of many of the best players currently in the world.

Apart of the English Premier League, “The Blues” won the Premier League title in 2012 and has won 25 major trophies in the team’s history, including the FA Cup, League Cup and European Cup Winners’ Cup. Manchester City’s roster is made up of some of the league’s best players. Argentine forward Sergio Aquero played in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, but suffered injuries after the match against Nigeria.

Today’s team preview will highlight one of the world’s most storied and popular club teams, A.C. Milan. Milan has spent the majority of its existence in the top flight of Italian football, Serie A. They are the second most successful club in the world regarding international trophies winning 18 Serie A titles, seven UEFA Champion League titles and four FIFA titles.
The Colombian Independence Festival returns to Sun Life Stadium for the second time on Sunday, July 20 to celebrate its 26th anniversary. The festival, which runs from 2 p.m.– 11 p.m., includes a large children’s playground, ethnic foods, arts and crafts and live performances by Colombian and Latin American artists. The main stage will feature a wide array of musical acts including Latin Grammy Award winning vallenato artist Jorge Celedon, the long-running popular salsa group Orquesta Guayacan (formally known as Group Niche), and one of the most renowned vallento singers in Colombia, Iván Villazón.
