The championship rounds of the 2nd annual Battle of the Badges 7-on-7 flag football tournament was held at Sun Life Stadium on Sunday, January 19th. Teams consisted of local police and fire departments from throughout South Florida. Fourteen teams competed in the all-day tournament on the field as friends and families gathered to cheer on the men and women who protect serve our South Florida community. In the end, it was the Boynton Beach Fire Rescue team that edged out Palm Beach County Fire Rescue in the finals to earn the crown.
Grab your friends! The Color Me Rad 5K comes to Sun Life Stadium this Saturday, February 1st. The 5K takes runners on a fun course around the stadium while being doused in color. All runners who participated in the Color Me Rad 5K will receive a RAD participant T-shirt, Color Me Rad sunglasses, RAD tattoo, race bib and “color bomb.” At the finish line, runners will enjoy live music, food and fun, and will also receive their color packets, where they will have the opportunity to cover fellow runners with a plethora of colors.
The annual Dan Marino Foundation WalkAbout Autism & Expo brought to you by Walgreens comes to Sun Life Stadium this Saturday, January 25th. This year’s walk starts on the field before going out and around the stadium and finishing in the Grand Plaza, where there will be fun activities and entertainment for the entire family. Those who are looking to participate in the event have the opportunity to start or join a team to help raise funds for this great cause.
The 2nd Annual Miami Beer Festival comes to Sun Life Stadium for the first time on Saturday, February 1st. The Miami Beer Festival will be held on the field and will feature more than 50 breweries from across the nation including; Sweetwater (Atlanta, Ga), Breckenridge (Denver, CO), Goose Island (Chicago, Il) and Green Flash (San Diego, CA). In addition to the national breweries, many local favorites will be in attendance including Funky Buddha Brewery, the Wynwood Brewing Company and Due South Brewing.
The 4th Annual Miami Dolphins Miami Dade-Broward All-Star Game, presented by Under Armour and hosted by the Greater Miami Athletic Conference (GMAC) and the Broward County Athletic Association, will be held at Sun Life Stadium tonight. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30. Admission to tonight’s game is $12 and tickets will be available for purchase at the stadium box office. The Clemson Tigers and Ohio State Buckeyes will meet in the Discover Orange Bowl on January 3, 2014. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 pm. In dramatic fashion, the Miami Dolphins defeated the New England Patriots by a score of 24-20 in front of a packed house on December 15th to earn the No. 1 Moment at Sun Life Stadium in 2013. Down 20-17 late in the game, quarterback Ryan Tannehil drove the Dolphins down the field in under three minutes, over the course of nine plays, capping off the drive with a 14-yard touchdown pass to running back Marcus Thigpen to go ahead 24-20. Tannehill finished the day with 312 yards passing, completing 25 of 37 passes for three touchdowns.
