On January 7, 2013 before a crowd of 80,120, the second ranked Alabama Crimson Tide dismantled the top ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish by a score of 42-14 to secure their second straight national title and their third in four years. The game earned the No. 2 spot on the Top 10 Moments at Sun Life Stadium in 2013. In the highly anticipated matchup, the Crimson Tide bolted out to 28-0 first half lead and never looked back. Alabama’s outstanding performance was led by running back Eddie Lacy and quarterback AJ McCarron.
It was lights out on Halloween night at Sun Life Stadium. The Miami Dolphins vs. Cincinnati Bengals game earns the No. 3 spot on the Top 10 Moments at Sun Life Stadium in 2013. The Thursday night game started by turning the lights off at Sun Life Stadium, with an electric player introduction through smoke and fireworks, accompanied by a special cheerleader Halloween performance. The excitement extended on to the field of play as the Bengals and Dolphins battled to a 20-20 tie to end regulation.
2013 brought a new tournament to South Florida and the world of soccer. The International Champions Cup Finals comes in at No. 4 on the Top 10 Moments at Sun Life Stadium in 2013. A crowd of 67,237 were on hand to witness Real Madrid win the inaugural Guinness International Champions Cup trophy, defeating Chelsea by a score of 3-1. Cristiano Ronaldo led the way for Madrid by scoring two goals and earning Man of the Tournament honors Madrid started the scoring early, when Marcelo found the back of the net during the 14th minute to gain an early lead.
The Miami Dolphins host AFC Rival the New York Jets this Sunday at Sun Life Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm. The summer’s biggest concert made its final tour stop at Sun Life Stadium on August 16th, earning the No. 5 spot on Top 10 Moment of 2013. The Legends of the Summer Tour, featuring Justin Timberlake and Jay Z, sold out venues across the nation from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena to Yankee Stadium in New York City grossing nearly $70 million. The 13-city, 15-show tour was seen by more than 600,000 fans. On a hot summer night, Sun Life Stadium was transformed into a concert venue and fans packed the field and stands to watch Justin Timberlake and Jay Z for over two and half hours, performing hits both new and old.
The 2013 season brought a new look to the Miami Dolphins franchise. Coming in as the No. 6 most memorable moment at Sun Life Stadium in 2013 is the Miami Dolphins Logo Evolution and Uniform Unveil. On April 25th, the first night of the 2013 NFL Draft, before the first pick was made, the Dolphins revealed their new uniforms at the team’s Draft Party held on the field at Sun Life Stadium. The night began by chronicling the history of the Miami Dolphins logo and uniforms with the help of Hall of Fame quarterbacks Bob Griese and Dan Marino, along with former Miami Dolphins defensive end and Honor Roll inductee Jason Taylor.
