DOLPHIN STADIUM TO HOST FIRST PRO BOWL
OUTSIDE OF HAWAII IN 2010

Miami Gardens, FL - The National Football League announced today that Dolphin Stadium will be the first venue in recent history to host the Pro Bowl outside of Hawaii following the 2009 season.  The 2010 Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, January 31, 2010 and televised live on ESPN at 8 PM ET from Dolphin Stadium, also the site of Super Bowl XLIV a week later on Sunday, February 7.

The 2010 Pro Bowl will be the first played prior to the Super Bowl and only the second Pro Bowl played in the same city as the Super Bowl. The Los Angeles Coliseum hosted the first Super Bowl on January 15, 1967 and the Pro Bowl the following week.   It also will be the second Pro Bowl to be played in South Florida.  On January 20, 1975 the NFC defeated the AFC 17-10 in the Orange Bowl during an era when the Pro Bowl was played in a number of different stadiums around the country.

In addition to the Pro Bowl’s annual ticket subscribers, tickets to the 2010 Pro Bowl at Dolphin Stadium will be made available to Dolphins season ticket holders, as well as to fans across the nation.

“This is wonderful news for the South Florida community.   We are thrilled to be the first to host the combination of the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl, and feel privileged to have such an opportunity,” said Bruce Schulze, President of Dolphin Stadium.

“This has been a special year for the team and our fans, and this is just another piece of good news,” said Bryan Wiedmeier, President of the Miami Dolphins. “From youth football up through scholastic programs, the Dolphins have been strong supporters of the sport at all levels, and hosting the very best players in the game is a culmination of that effort.”

This adds another significant event to the already impressive list of world-class events hosted by Dolphin Stadium.  Next week, the stadium will be hosting three nationally significant games – the FedEx Orange Bowl on January 1st, the Miami Dolphins playoff game on January 4th, and the BCS college championship game on January 8th.  In March, the stadium will host the second round of the World Baseball Classic.  This is in addition to the venue being the home of the Miami Dolphins, Florida Marlins, University of Miami, international soccer matches and mega concerts.
