Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Gibson may be new to the team, but he is no stranger to football and Sun Life Stadium. We caught up with him earlier this week to hear is thoughts on the upcoming Dolphins scrimmage Monday night, the Spain-Haiti soccer match in June, and the upcoming International Champions Cup. Here’s what he had to say:
SLS: What should fans expect at the first inter-squad scrimmage under the lights at Sun Life Stadium?
Brandon: A lot of excitement, big plays and lot of hitting. The defense is excited and playing fast and the offense is ready to finally let loose and put up some points.
SLS: Now, this won’t be the first time that you will be down at the stadium this summer. You were also down there earlier this summer for Spain – Haiti soccer game. Tell us about your experience at the game.
Brandon: It was huge! It was exciting. The Haitians have a huge fan base here and it was a great time. It was a very exciting time for the Haitian national team, and also for Spain who came out with the win.
SLS: This wasn’t the only soccer game that will be at Sun Life Stadium this summer. I know you just said on Twitter that you will be missing out on the International Champions Cup coming to Sun Life Stadium on August 6th and 7th. What’s exciting about that event coming down to the stadium?
SLS: Everyone knows Ronaldo and Tim Howard. If there is one player out of this tournament, a name that people don’t know about yet…who do you think is someone that will stand out and make a name for themselves?
Brandon: I think Landon Donovan is a special player. He belongs right along with the group with all those guys.
SLS: Finally, we want to hear your picks for the first round games of the ICC. Starting up on July 27th with AC Milan and Valencia in a game that is taking place over in Spain. Who do you think is going to win that matchup?
Brandon: I’m going to go with AC Milan.
SLS: Next we have your team coming up, Real Madrid and the LA Galaxy. Who’s going to take that match?
Brandon: I think Real wins big.
SLS: And last but not least, Inter Milan and Chelsea. Who’s going to win that match?
Brandon: That’s going to be an exciting game. That’s the one I really wanted to check out, but I think Inter Milan will probably take that one.
SLS: Overall who’s going to win the championship?
Brandon: Real Madrid.
