Real Madrid, also known as Real, is one of the most recognized professional soccer clubs in the world. Portuguese Captain and forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, is one of the world’s most expensive players. His contract with Real Madrid makes him the highest paid footballer in the world and is regarded by some as the best player in the world. Among many of his career accomplishments, in 2007 Ronald became the first player in England it win all four PFA and FWA titles. In 2008 and again in 2013, he secured the FIFA/Balloon d’Or award for the best footballer in the world and became the first Portuguese to win it twice. In 2008, Ronald was named the FIFA World Player of the Year, FIFPro Player of the Year, World Soccer Player of the Year and the Onze d’Or. UEFA named Ronaldo the greatest goalscoreer to play in the league in 2014. The world renowned player also holds the record for the most goals scored in a single UEFA Champions League season. He has made appearances in the 2006, 2010, and 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Sergio Ramos is a central defender and right-back for Real. He has played for the Spanish national team in a total of three World Cups and two European Championships. In 2013, he became the youngest player to ever reach 100 caps. Ramous is regarded as the best defender in the world.
Other prominent players include defensive midfielder Xabi Alonso known for his deep-lying playmaking, Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casiass and free kick specialist Gareth Bale.
Real Madrid will face Inter in Match 3 for the International Champions Cup. The match is set for July 26 in Berkley, Calif. at the California Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
