January 22, 1989
Final Score: San Francisco 49ers 20 – Cincinnati Bengals 16
In a game that matched up the San Francisco 49ers and the Cincinnati Bengals, the National Anthem was performed by the six-time Grammy Award winner Billy Joel. The 49ers won on a late 4th quarter drive led by future Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana and the game’s MVP was Jerry Rice.
January 25, 1995
Final Score: San Francisco 49ers 49 – Cincinnati Bengals 26
The game once again featured the San Francisco 49ers, this time taking on the San Diego Chargers. Actress and singer Kathy Lee Gifford performed the National Anthem before a crowd of over 74,000 fans who went on to watch Steve Young and the San Francisco 49ers dismantle the San Diego Chargers.

Cher, a winner of an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, an Emmy Award, and three Golden Globe Awards, sang the National Anthem before John Elway led the Denver Broncos to their second consecutive Super Bowl victory in the last game of his Hall of Fame career.

Billy Joel returned to Sun Life Stadium for his second performance of a National Anthem at a Super Bowl in a game that featured Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts defeating the Chicago Bears. Joel is only one of two performers to have performed the National Anthem on multiple occasions for the Super Bowl, and, as of today, the last male vocalist to perform the song at a Super Bowl.
