Los Catrachos, known as the national team of Honduras, has qualified three times for the FIFA World Cup finals. For the first time in history, the team has qualified for its second consecutive World Cup.
Roger Espinoza, former Sporting Kansas City midfielder, stars as one of the best midfield players in the CONCACAF. With Espinoza’s outstanding passing ability, he is noted to be one of they most important players for Honduras going into the World Cup.
Carlo Costly is a striker for the Honduras national team as well as the Real C.D. Espana. He is ranked second in scoring through qualification scoring in both qualifying matches against Mexico. He is known to be one of Honduras’ most liked players due to his sincere devoutness and sacrifice when playing for his national team.
Emilio Izaguirre plays left back for Honduras as well at for the Scottish Premiership side Celtic. He has appeared in the 2010 World Cup and the 2007 World Cup. The defender is known to be one of the most experienced players for Honduras and is expected to help lead the team at the 2014 World Cup.
The Honduras national team is managed by Luis Fernando Suarez. Suarez led Ecuador to the 16th round of the 2006 FIFA World Cup and won the 1999 Colombian Championship. He guided Ecuador to their second World Cup in 2005. In 2006, he gained much popularity by leading Ecuador to their best and most successful appearance in the 2006 World Cup.
Honduras is placed in Group E at the World Cup. The team will take on France June 15 before matching up with Ecuador on June 20. Honduras will then play Switzerland who will be looking to take the second spot on June 25.
