This week, Sun Life Stadium is helping kick off the 2013 football season by hosting three football games in three days.
On Thursday, August 29, the Miami Dolphins host the New Orleans Saints in their fifth and final test of the 2013 NFL preseason. This game marks last chance for players to make an impression on the coaches before rosters are reduced to 53 men on Saturday evening, as the team heads into the regular season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm.
On Friday, August 30, the college football season starts in South Florida as Al Golden and the Miami Hurricanes host in-state foe Florida Atlantic University. This will be the first meeting between the two schools. During halftime, the 30th Anniversary of the 1983 Miami Hurricanes National Championship will be celebrated with Coach Howard Schnellenberger and members of the team in attendance. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 pm.
On Saturday, August 31, two of the most storied high school football programs in South Florida history meet for the first time, as St. Thomas Aquinas and Miami Northwestern face off under the lights at Sun Life Stadium. Both teams are ranked in the top five of the Miami Herald’s South Florida high school football top 20 poll, with St. Thomas is ranked 11th nationally in the USA Today Super 25 poll. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
