Thomas INtIn dramatic fashion, the Miami Dolphins defeated the New England Patriots by a score of 24-20 in front of a packed house on December 15th to earn the No. 1 Moment at Sun Life Stadium in 2013.

Down 20-17 late in the game, quarterback Ryan Tannehil drove the Dolphins down the field in under three minutes, over the course of nine plays, capping off the drive with a 14-yard touchdown pass to running back Marcus Thigpen to go ahead 24-20.  Tannehill finished the day with 312 yards passing, completing 25 of 37 passes for three touchdowns.

With 1:15 remaining on the clock, the Patriots drove 66 yards down to the Miami 14-yard line, but it was there that the Dolphins stingy defense thwarted Tom Brady’s comeback bid.  On fourth-and-5, newly acquired safety Michael Thomas intercepted a Tom Brady pass in the endzone to seal the victory.

Thomas, the game’s unlikely hero who was signed off the 49ers practice squad earlier in the week, was playing in his first NFL game.  Following his game winning interception, Thomas was swarmed by teammates celebrating in the endzone.

The emotional victory for the Miami Dolphins in front of their home crowd garners the No. 1 Moment at Sun Life Stadium in 2013
