At No. 8 on the Top 10 Moments at Sun Life Stadium in 2013, we matchup between two rivals; the Miami Hurricanes and the Florida Gators. A crowd of 76,869 were on hand, setting a new attendance record for the University of Miami at Sun Life Stadium, to see the Hurricanes defeat the #9 ranked Gators by a score of 21-16.
This was the 55th meeting between the two rivals, and the first meeting between the two schools in Miami in more than 10 years. Following their victory, the Hurricanes lead the all-time series 29-26.
The Hurricanes were led by Stephen Morris, who completed 12 of 25 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns, as well as outstanding play by their defense which forced five turnovers on the day.
Prior to 1987, the University of Miami and Florida met on an annual home-and-away basis, dating back to 1938 (there was no game in 1943 when Florida did not have a team). Since then, the two rivals have only met on five occasions, two of which were bowl games; the Sugar Bowl in 2001 and Peach Bowl in 2004.
Currently, there are no further games scheduled between the two schools.
