The festival featured live musical performances, headlined by Latin Grammy Award winning artist Gilberto Santa Rosa. Other musical guests whose sounds were heard on the main stage at Festival Independencia de Venezuela included Grupo Treo, Caramelos de Cianuro and Billo’s Caracas Boys. Prior to their performance, the members of Grupo Treo greeted and took pictures with fans alongside the stage.
In addition to live music, the festival included a large children’s area. Kids of all ages were able to take their turn on carnival rides and games, inflatable slides, a dueling zip line, and the Miami Dolphins quarterback challenge, ensuring a fun day for the entire family.
Restaurants from throughout South Florida served authentic Venezuelan cuisine, as well as a wide variety of tastes from across South and Latin America to assist in the celebration.
Receiving special recognition at the festival was founder and former President of Súmate, Maria Croina Machado. Machado ran was President of Venezuela in 2012 and currently serves as a Member of the National Assembly of Venezuela.
